- 1/2 lime
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- 3 tbsp sugar
- ~1/2 tbsp. chili paste
- ~1/2 cup squid sauce
- ~1/2 cup water
Beat lime and juice it. Add minced garlic. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.
- 5-6 cups water
- 5 small (or 4 large) roma tomatoes cut in quarters or 1/6 pieces
- 2 cans pineapple slices (keep juice!) cut into medium-sized pieces
- 2 cups bean sprouts
- 1 lb. shrimp (peeled and deveined) or fish, crab, etc.
- ~3 tbsp. tamarind soup base (the powder)
- ~3 tbsp. nuoc mam
Keep stove at medium-high. In a large pot, add enough oil to cook shrimp (if necessary), water, tomatoes, pineapple slices, pineapple juice, soup base, tomatoes, and nuoc mam. Cook until vegetables soften and float to the top. Add bean sprouts until they soften, too.
