Creamy Tomato Parmesan Sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/4 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes with juice
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  1. Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat. Stir in garlic/onion and cook until onion turns translucent, 2 min.
  2. Pour in diced tomatoes and sugar.
  3. Increase heat to medium high and bring to simmer.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low and continue simmering for 10 min and stir.
  5. Stir in cream and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Simmer for an additional 3 minutes.
  7. Add 1:1 cornstarch/water mixture to thicken sauce if needed.
  8. Serve over pasta.
