- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 2.5 lb canned chopped tomatoes
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup celery (chopped)
- 2 Tbs Parsley (chopped)
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp italian herbs
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 lb lasagna noodles (or 1 box precooked)
- olive oil
- 1 lb ricotta cheese
- 2 eggs
- 16 oz mozzarella (grated)
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
Brown beef and set aside. Combine onion, garlic, celery and saute till wilted. Add chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, water, celery, parsley, salt, sugar, herbs and bay leaf. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Mix ricotta, eggs and Parmesan.
Preheat the oven to 375
In a 13x9x3 Pan, make the following layers:
- 1 cup sauce on bottom of baking pan
- layer of noodles, 1/3 of ricotta, half of meat, 1 cup mozzarella, 1 cup sauce
- layer of noodles, 1/3 ricotta, 1-1/2 cups sauce, 1 cup mozzarella
- layer of noodles, remaining ricotta, remaining meat, 1 cup sauce, 1 cup mozzarella
- layer of noodles, remaining sauce, remaining mozzarella
Bake for 45-60 minutes (Depending on oven)
