- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup dark corn syrup or molasses
- 1 Tbs white vinegar
- 1 Tbs baking soda
Combine Sugar, molasses and vinegar in a very large saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly till sugar dissolves. Cover pan for 1 minute to allow steam to wash down sugar crystals that cling to side of pan, or wipe down with a damp cloth.
Uncover pan; insert candy thermometer. Cook without stirring to 300 F (hard crack)
Remove from heat. Stir in baking soda. Pour into buttered 9x9x2” pan set on a wire rack. Allow to cool. Break into pieces.
